Why do diets fail? Because CONFUSION that arises from inaccurate information, scams, myths, and just plain bad ideas occupies everyone's brain. You simply don't have the accurate information you need to succeed. And, I'll prove it to you when you read my content. Oh, you say, "I knew that."

I'll tell you why. It's because there's no FOCUS on it. No one, including the medical and scientific community, has ever put the blinders on you before.

Here's a sample of the beliefs and misconceptions that are promoted, the ones that hide the critical importance of calories:

Calories don't count, say the pseudo-scientific writers like Atkins, Eades, Zone, Sugar Busters, S. Somers
You have a fast or slow metabolism
Your blood type determines your bodyweight
You need to dance with the oldies
You have to count your food points on little cards
The color of the food you eat determines your weight
If you drink this juice, you'll lose 10 pounds in 10 days
Telephone pole ads that say lose 30 pounds in 30 days
The Bowflex® TV ad promises you'll get the results you want in just 6 weeks ("in only 20 minutes a day, 3 times a week")
The "Metabolic Makeover Magic" of Body for Life® promises spectacular results in just 12 weeks
The magic pill that promises a new you in just a couple of weeks
The plan that guarantees that no diet or exercise is required
The magazines at the supermarket checkout line that promise to help you drop two dress sizes in two weeks
Late night infomercials
Dr. Dean Ornish, the vegetarian zealot, stated before the USDA that Viagra is the hottest selling drug because men's circulations are clogged up because of pork rinds and fat
Magic herbs
Metabolic disturbances such as problems with your thyroid gland
The "add muscle and burn more calories while you sit on your behind" scam — the ultimate free lunch
Do your exercise and then sit around and burn up calories for the next several hours because of your whoop-de-do 15 minutes of exercise
Electronic ab belts that just "melt" the fat from your body — everyone's plan just melts fat, it seems, it's all so easy and no one will have to "do" anything to succeed
Nutritional supplements that "ramp up" your metabolism
Eat all the protein and fat you want and still lose

And you believe this stuff is true! This is why you're so CONFUSED. You NEVER hear the TRUTH or get the FACTS. The weight loss industry is totally controlled by marketers who have no knowledge of the scientific facts that I have spent 43 years learning.

OK, that's it, Calories Count. Now, that's simple, but it's still very complicated because you see (and listen carefully here), there are rules to this game — the body's rules. Principles are involved that cannot be messed with, cannot be broken. If you try to mess with them or ignore them, you'll lose.

"Calories Count" is the first principle and it is unyielding and constant just like the fact that water freezes at 32 degrees. You can count on this rule and you are held accountable by it. There is no escape for anyone!

And there are important twists and turns in applying the calorie principles that you must know to succeed. That's what I use several hundred pages to teach.



Here's What I've Learned While Marketing My Books, the Shocking Truth

(It was a shock to me anyway...)

There's a huge gap between the potential purchasers of my big book and my readers. This was an agonizing gap to circumnavigate. But, I figured out how to do it — I packaged all of my content in many different ways and now you have a variety of options to get exactly what meets your needs. When you become my reader, you'll see that everything I promise to deliver is delivered.

As you'll see below, I've heard all the arguments against spending $60 on a book about weight control. I learned, since finishing Ultimate Diet Secrets (the big version), that not everyone wants to become an expert and understand every aspect of weight control. Many people just want to lose the belly or love handles, or just feel better and look better in a bathing suit, or perform better in their sport — or even gain muscle while trimming some fat. I created Ultimate Diet Secrets lite to answer these needs.

I've interviewed my readers and asked them what they were thinking about BEFORE they bought my big book. They all say the same things:

Who is this guy anyway? I've never heard of him before and he's never been on TV. I don't know if I trust him or if he really knows what he's talking about. (I have been on TV but he didn't see me yet.)
This guy's book is 60 bucks. I can go buy many 'diet' books and all of them are selling for less than $20. (Are you sure that these cheap books deliver?)

And look at his picture on the cover. This guy is all pumped up on 'roids. This book must be all about bodybuilding. Well, I'm not interested in looking like that, I just want to lose 10 pounds. (I used the techniques I teach to build a physique because that was my boyhood dream. I learned to optimize the process but the methods I teach work for anyone regardless of his or her goals. You don't have to look like I do, or even want to, to use and benefit from my effective Menu of Strategies.)
Oh, and he's got some autobiography chapters in there too. Why do I want to read someone's autobiography in a weight loss book? (Because I do a lot of teaching about how it works in the real world in these chapters. Readers love 'em!)
And this is a self-published book so it can't be very good because no major publishing house would contract for it. (My publishing advisors told me that the NY publishers would edit my book to nothing so that it really would be just another diet book. But I needed to tell the story as it's never been told before so I had to maintain control over the work.)
I'll wait till it's in Borders or any of the other major chains before I buy it. Until then, I'm just not convinced that this book is worth $19.95, let alone $59.95. (UDS, UDS lite, and some of my other books are now available on Amazon.com and may soon be in other major chain bookstores down the road... but probably at a much higher price.)
I just don't need this book what with all the books, videos, and other plans out there that cost less and are a quicker study. (Read the testimonials to see if that's the truth.)
I've read every book out there and I know that Ellis can't contribute anything new to what all the other well-known "experts" have already said. (Again, the answer to this objection lives and breathes in my readers' testimonials.)
