Testimonials

The comments on these pages are real, unsolicited testimonials from readers of my book, Ultimate Diet Secrets. Most of these people had doubts about spending $59.95 to purchase what they supposed would be "yet another diet book." But I think you'll find, once you've read some of these comments, that those who place some faith in me and invest in my book discover that they have finally found the complete truth, the FACTS, about weight control, and finally have in their hands ALL the tools they need to succeed where they've always failed before.

If you've read my book and would like to contribute your thoughts to these pages, please use my contact page to send me a message. I can't reply to every message, and I can't guarantee I'll post every message I receive (I get a LOT of email!), but I will read every message and post as many as I can.

I'd love to hear from you!

- Dr. Greg Ellis

Ralph Biggins, Spacecraft Engineering Consultant from Seeheim, Germany, says:
Being irritated by the fact that I was classified as borderline obese, and after my wife kept telling me, in the kind way that women use, that I was too fat and needed to lose some weight, I found out about Dr. Greg Ellis and his Ultimate Diet Secrets book. I thought about it. I thought some more.

There are hundreds of books on the marketplace, and even though I've read many of them, and this one seemed rather expensive, I still thought about it some more. Dr. Ellis said "I'm Going to Teach You All of the Secret Diet, Weight Loss, Weight Control, and Body Shaping Methods Never Revealed to You Before..." but don't they all???

I got the book and read it all in just 2 days. If you thought you knew anything about nutrition and weight loss, think again. This is not like any other book on diets. It completely blew everything I thought I knew out the window, and unlike other diet books and programs, it refers to 'real' scientific papers with the backing of 'real' science, not the science of 'my mum said...' or 'the guy down the gym said...".

I started the diet the Monday after I finished reading the book. I knew exactly how much I should lose, and why, and I did. As everyone else on a diet finds, after a while I stopped losing weight, so I read the book again. In embarrassment I realized that I had missed important information in the book, and then the weight started falling again. With so much information contained on each page, from anecdotes about Dr Ellis' own journey through weight loss and weight gain, to mind-blowing information about the truth of what happens to the food you eat, it's not surprising that I missed things. Take my advice - read the book slowly, make notes (if you are as forgetful as I am) and then read it again. If you take in what Dr. Ellis says, you cannot help but reach your diet goals.

Ultimate Diet Secrets delivers what it promises. I managed to lose about 5 kilos (11 pounds) in 6 weeks (starting weight 88 kg). Not only that but my waist has gone down by 10 cm (4 inches), and my chest has grown 5 cm (2 inches ) - so nobody can accuse me of losing my muscle!! Am I worried about my weight? Not any more. Am a strict dieter? No, I am weak. In the last 6 weeks, chocolate bars (3 in one day...the shame of it) and cake have appeared with unfortunate frequency, but I got the control back, and still managed to lose weight. As the cartoon character He-man used to say, "I have the power!", to control my weight, that is. My fat is going down, my muscle is going up, and I still lose weight.

If you want to lose weight, get Ultimate Diet Secrets. If you don't want to lose weight, get Ultimate Diet Secrets anyway, you won't regret it.

Ultimate Diet Secrets? No, not really. Ultimate "everything-you-need-to-know-to-control-your-weight-and-be-healthy-given-by-someone-who-has-done-the-same-things-and-lives-by-his-diet Secrets." Yes, that's more like it. But, it doesn't quite roll off the tongue very easily does it? No matter, it says what it has to.

Steven Maxwell, MS, Two-time World and Pan American Masters/Senior Brazilian Jiujitsu Champion from Philadelphia, PA, says:
Dr. Ellis and I go all the way back to 1972 when he opened his first workout center, the Huff & Puff Gym. He was the inspiration to so many people, particularly young athletes. When he became a vegetarian in the mid-70's, I went along for the ride.

After he moved on from the health club business, we lost contact for almost 20 years and when we hooked up again in 1996, he'd dropped the vegetarian diet and adopted the low-carbohydrate diet. For some of his athletes, he recommended eating as few carbs as humanly possible. I was training for my black belt in Brazilian Jiujitsu at the time. My bodyweight ranged from about 158-162 pounds on my low-fat, vegetarian diet. And, I was always battling hunger and a set of love handles even though I trained for many hours every day.

Greg explained the biochemistry involved in diet and showed me exactly how a low-fat diet causes fat gain and muscle loss even in the face of hard training. I adopted his philosophy. Over the next 2 years my bodyweight climbed at one point to 182 pounds but has now leveled off at about 172. Love handles? Gone. Hunger? Gone. I whip guys into submission because of my dramatically improved endurance and strength.

It all worked exactly as he taught me. He said, "Steve, the body is controlled by principles, work with them and not against them, and you can't lose." It's all true. Ellis knows more about diet and training than anyone, anywhere. Imagine, I gained about 12 pounds of muscle and lost a couple pounds of fat (decreasing my already low body fat percentage by more!) by just doing what he told me.

This year, 2002, I became the Two-time World and Pan American Masters/Senior Brazilian Jiujitsu Champion. My opponent's tongue was licking the mat. Don't hesitate to buy Ellis's books, they are the best on the market. We've been using his programs with our several hundred clients here at Maxercise in Philadelphia. Our clients, from all walks of life, love the results they get. It's not just his diet advice, but his mastery of the whole subject of bodyweight regulation that just blows your mind. The others out there? There are no others. These is only one and that's Dr. Greg.

Adrienne Zariski from New York, NY, says:
"Dr. Ellis' Ultimate Diet Secrets is 600 pages long and therefore much lengthier than the typical diet/fitness books. This is because it is not simply a diet/fitness book -- it is a real education!"

Andy McMillen from Bradford, PA, says:
This book appeals to logic, not emotion. The only emotion I felt while reading it is "DAMNIT! So there is no Magic?!" Kinda like when you learn about Santa Clause - you feel bad and then at the same time you look at your parents in a new way - "You mean, YOU did all that all those years?" One dream is destroyed while new ones open up that are even better, and more REAL, ones that you can actually do something with.

I already knew some of the material but I wasn't inspired to actually use it before. I personally thought the low carb diet was healthy but I never was quite sure. NOW, I am positive. NOW I can stop doubting myself. I can also go back and look at all my mistakes and understand them. I can also do measurable experiments on myself and actually SEE results. I haven't counted calories in 10 years because of the BS out there, now I'm doing it in my head. It's as practical as balancing your checkbook but WHY DIDN'T I DO IT UNTIL NOW? Because of BS. There is SO MUCH BS out there and I think 50% of UDS deals with shoveling it out of your way. The other 50% shows you what works and how to use it, scientifically. It delivers on every diet promise you've ever heard but it comes with a price - you have to do something for it.

I was a diet-bouncer until 10/02. Never again. I think it's worth well over $60. I think it's insanely under-priced for what's in it. It's impossible for any review to summarize anything in the book, it's just too big.

Of the 12 years that I've been dieting and working out, I counted calories for maybe 6 months. That's it and the only reason I did it was because I was in a nutrition class and we had to. Because of the low fat, vegetarian, Atkins and all the bodybuilding diets -- I believed that calorie counting was unnecessary and you could still gain weight on low calories because of a slow metabolism or low muscle mass and I believed you could eat "anything you want" if you built up your muscle mass and had a high metabolism. What I just said I believed until I got your book. I had been trying to get it to work for years but it just won't work but THAT is what EVERYONE REALLY believes.

The reason we believe all this stuff is because we want to. I want to believe I can eat whatever I want because that's what I want to be able to do. Even the vegetarian diets (I was on one), what a mess -- I gained 40 lbs. -- make you feel as if you can eat all the bread and pasta in the world as long as you don't poison yourself with poor dead animal flesh. There's always a sales pitch that involves you getting something that NO ONE CAN EVER HAVE. The Anabolic Diet by DiPasquale, where you low carb for 5 days and high carb for 2 days, I actually believed that it was working until I saw my wedding pictures -- I looked like a bloated moron and I felt as if I was on the healthiest diet in the world, I was eating anything and everything without guilt because some book told me it's ok. It's obvious that we won't learn anything until we're ready.

The chapter on "What's wrong with other diets" is worth the entire price of the book. I don't think I ever laughed so hard in my life. There's also a funny link on his site about Dr. Andrew Weil. I don't know if anyone remembers, but a little over a year ago Weil was on Oprah (again) talking about the Mediterranean diet and his waist has got to be about 45 inches. He does look like a healthy Santa Clause but a diet guru he just can't pass for.

A couple points are beat over your head 20-50 times in the book, sometimes I think I'm rereading pages over again but then I look and I'm not -- he REALLY wants you to understand what happens in the body when you eat carbs. When he explained how a low fat diet beats the mixed diet I finally understood how those people that lost weight on them were able to pull it off -- they didn't have much of an advantage and they struggled an awful lot.

I can tell you that what's in the first 100 pages, and in some of the pages I have jumped around to, has never been said before the way you said it. I've been counting calories and honestly it's not as difficult as "they" say it is. Took me about 5 minutes yesterday, if that.

Chris Holland from Rochester, NY says:
When he said he was going to put everything in the book he really meant it. If you have never read anything about low carb way of eating this is a long read. Even if you have read every low carb book prior to this like I have, it is still a long read! I don't mean that in a negative sense but there is just so much info within the 600 pages.

He describes his many trials and tribulations from the time he was very young up until the present and how each of these contributed to his desire to understand how the body worked and how to make it work optimally. He really leaves no stone unturned.

There are also many humorous and even somewhat insane stories of how obsessive this man truly is. Hey, to get a PhD, you have to be obsessive.

Let's put it this way ... the table of contents alone is 8 pages and if you can think of a question even remotely related to low carb I bet I could find it in there and give you the answer. If I did happen to get lost in all the info I am sure Dr. Ellis would tell me where I could find it in his book or just explain it himself. There is no magic or made up theory, just all the facts.

I would love to have some of the people who knocked Dr. Ellis and his ideas read the book and have something to say about it.

David R Lawton of Butler, PA says:
I'm about 300 pages into your book having had it for about 4 days now and I am amazed. It is one of the most extraordinary books on nutrition and diet that I have ever read. At any rate congratulations on your superb book. You deserve to make a bundle on it. This is your time!

Finally, someone has put it all together. High endorsements for Dr. Greg Ellis's new book Ultimate Diet Secrets. Finally, a treatise on the subject of nutrition that is based on a lifetime of practical application, exhaustive academic research, and authoritative credentials. Most books written on the subject are mostly opinion with a spattering of invalid or inaccurate content. This book is an eye opener! It is a must read for all those who seek the truth and aren't afraid to have their traditional belief systems challenged.

Go to www.ultimatedietsecrets.com and purchase the book of the same title by Dr. Greg Ellis. It is the consummate treatise on bodyweight regulation! Loads of pages covering every aspect of this timely subject including many pages of scientifically documented validation for the low carbohydrate diet. Dr. Ellis focuses on the ENERGY BALANCE EQUATION but goes far beyond exposing the myths of all the current diet trends and leaves you with a sense of WOW! I finally have all the keys!

Several days later...

Well this is about the 10th post on this subject in the past week! Why? Because Dr. Ellis's book is the consummate book on bodyweight regulation and control. It takes all of the pieces of the puzzle that all the so called "experts" have buried us in for decades and completes the puzzle. Check out his site at www.ultimatedietsecrets.com

Ultimate Diet Secrets is a superb work on bodyweight regulation. Having read the book in its entirety I must say that it is the most profound book I have read on the subject. It is refreshing to see such a comprehensive work that's based on scientific facts taken from legitimate scientific research dating back to the 1800's.

In the later chapters of Dr. Ellis's book he reviews all the current diet fads. After reading his book in its entirety you will realize why these diets represent the worst nutritional and bodyweight regulation methods published! I would encourage you to pick up a copy and read it cover to cover. You will find that where other writers tend to expound on theory, Dr. Ellis's book is based on valid biochemistry backed by controlled scientific research since the late 1800's.

Eddie Kowacz of Monmouth Junction, NJ says:
The first thing I did after I reviewed Dr. Ellis's Ultimate Diet Secrets was to go downstairs to my "library of nutrition" and count the actual number of books that I own pertaining to this field. There were 63. My reason for counting was to determine how much money I could've saved because with Ellis's book now in hand, I didn't need any of them! I feel that this book is it. The last time I checked, 64% of the nation is overweight, and it's not only a lack of discipline but a lack of knowledge and understanding that's to blame. It's also a lot of misinformation put out by everyone from the government to those out for monetary gain. This book puts all of that to rest. Funny isn't it, that we as a society fail at the one main thing that we're almost in TOTAL control of 100% of the time (the very food we stuff ourselves with). This book is well written, informative, and is backed up by research that I have never seen before from anyone, bar none. It's a must have. Great Work.

Frank Cruzata from Montgomery Village, MD says:
Greg, You have completely ruined the diet scene for me and I am extremely grateful! Can't say I've been able to really get into the book, only in the 5th chapter but it is incredible.

Overeating now isn't just an "oh well" occurrence because according to the math I will gain so then I either do more cardio, eat less or both. It has completely uncomplicated what the "experts" have convoluted into a cacophony of nonsense. I calculated my wife's RMR and when she saw how much she was eating she says, "well no wonder I'm gaining weight." Here we were blaming a host of other things when it was simple math, calories out versus calories in. She wasn't even aware of the equation. She hasn't followed the fitness scene so she hasn't been spoiled. She does not know the myths about fast/slow metabolisms and was falling for that.

To think I had shunned cardio because "all you need to do is adjust your diet. Why not just eat less, instead of exercise more?" Now I think, sure I can enjoy this piece of X but that means I will have to do Y amount of exercise to balance it out, is it worth it? Funny how it isn't a matter of willpower when you realize that what goes in MUST come out or it comes on. I'm guessing that once the metabolic shift occurs willpower will be a mute point, like you say in the book. Having to do another 20-30 minutes cardio for a regular soda just seems crazy now.

Anyhow, I have some time this evening so I'm off to study UDS.

Several weeks later...

Greg, I can say that your book has really made an impact. While I haven't finished it and am taking it slow, lots to digest, it has made my pastime of reading health and fitness articles a total waste of time. I can't get over this fact. Surfing the net for me now is geared towards posting on 1 or 2 self defense forums. Reading fitness articles is more about looking for the new ways people are getting drawn into pseudo-science sounding assumptions. I read the article I sent you before I received your book and thought "hey sounds good" now it's like "umm, kcal in vs. kcal out, metabolic adaptations, what else is there?

I thought you were just hyping your book up with "it's the last book" stuff. I can say that unless someone decides to reject fact it truly is the last book.

Gray Turner from Bend, OR says:
I recently started reading Dr Ellis's new book. I whole heartedly recommend it. I have bought dozens over the years -- all garbage. But this seems to be the one.

The book arrived yesterday. It was in perfect condition. It was all I had hoped it to be. I sat up half the night reading. Thanks

Jennifer Stack from New York, NY says:
I cannot praise Dr. Ellis's Ultimate Diet Secrets book enough as it is a revolutionary look at the diets out there. I am a woman in my early 30's, I have no intention or desire to become a bodybuilder but this book is still for me, offering diet and weight control sections for the average person. I live in NYC so I walk and do Pilates. I bought this book because over the past 7 years I have tried many of the other diets mentioned in the book to lose the 20 or 30 pounds that seems to come off and return in an ongoing circle. I am looking for an eating plan that works for my weight goal and gets me maximum results simply and can be easily continued as a lifestyle. Something all the other diets I tried had promised and failed to deliver.

I found these other diets too restrictive to continue as a lifestyle but most of all, they didn't work in the long run. I was assured I would not gain the weight back and following the instructions of the whatever new plan or book they were selling I did gain it back, often more weight than I lost.

Dr. Ellis's Ultimate Diet Secrets finally has given me the explanations of why the other diets didn't work and an alternative that makes sense. This book has something in it for everyone. I like the book so much not just because of the results and sense that it makes as an over-all plan but because it is so full of information for everyone, from the bodybuilder to a woman like me who just wants a plan that makes sense and works.

I immediately ordered my Caltrac upon reading about it. This is an amazing device and I am eager to receive it. This is not just a book for men, it is a book that can help everyone. It contains a lot of information but once I went over the Table of Contents I found the sections I was interested in to get me where I want to be weight-wise and started reading them. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is confused about the weight loss plans out there and frustrated at their lack of results and just wants to know how the human body works to lose and maintain weight.

John Pannozo from Berkely, CA says:
Its been a couple of weeks since I finished reading your book. I wanted to take some time to let everything settle in before providing you with my feedback.

1. Personal: After reading your book I came away with complete respect for you as a person, for your accomplishments and for your honesty. Perhaps the best compliment I can give is that I would be honored to have a person like you as a friend. You seem to be real/no BS, intelligent and opinionated; all things that I value.

2. Main point: Overall, I learned a tremendous amount. You presented much new information. And I came away with a greater and deeper respect for the human body, the difficulty and the degree of hard work required to obtain low body fat percents, the proper perspective when establishing my own personal goals and the intellectual framework for understanding weight loss. Your book changed how I "think" about this issue and that does not happen too often at all!

3. Minor points: a) At first I was skeptical of integrating an autobiography into a nutrition book but later changed my opinion. The autobiographical material really worked for me. I looked forward to those chapters. They were interesting, informative and illustrative of the text. b) I was tickled to see you reference others whom I greatly respect and admire. For example, The Weston A. Price Foundation and Sally Fallon, Uffe Ravnskov, Mary Enig, etc. Furthermore, and this was a real mind blower, you even referenced my favorite author, Thomas Sowell. Wow! c) I generally read very critically but found no typo's that I remember.

Overall, it was excellent. I am glad to have read it, will read it again and recommend it to others.

Again thanks for UDS, Greg.

Several weeks later...

Another compliment to you and UDS. I recently received an email touting a "new" diet book. As I am interested in nutrition, my first response was "cool." However, three nanoseconds later UDS kicked in and said: 1. The calorie balance equation rules supreme; 2. Increasing activity is more effective than reducing calories (though both may need to be addressed); 3. Diet composition (restricting carbs) is important but not as important as the first two items; 4. It takes hard work and discipline. 5. Am I really committed to that goal? Then the allure of the new book evaporated and I hit "delete." Now, THAT was "cool!"

Mark Baldwin from Scottsdale, AZ says:
I have tried many diets and eating programs from all the known experts and nothing has fulfilled my needs of energy, bodyfat loss, appetite control (sugar binges), and strength enhancement like Dr. Ellis' new book. I walk 8 hours a day at my job, raise 3 kids, and am starting a new business so energy, having a clear mind, and mood control are vital to my daily life. If you follow the Ellis way, you will be on your own way to achieving your goals.

Mike Kerrigan from Framingham, MA says:
I dove into UDS on my two flights over the weekend and am very impressed with it. Though I'm nowhere near finished I'm amazed at the depth and breadth of the areas covered and information you provide. The way you interweave the autobiographical theme in between the technical stuff makes everything so much more real and is going to be hard to beat. How many other authors/researchers in this space have done that? None that I know of.

I just wanted to let you know that STS arrived today. I look forward to reading it once I get through UDS which has been dynamite. I have to tell you the brutally honest approach of your writing (especially the real life chapters) is quite refreshing.

Later...

UDS and STS were outstanding. UDS is so dog-eared and highlighted you'd think I'd bought it 10 years ago. I'm already reading it again which is always the sign of a keeper!

The introductory chapters in STS that come before the actual exercise programs were well done and sets it apart from so many "cookie cutter" weight training books on the market.

Michael Zapach from Worcester, MA says:
I've been following Dr. Ellis' diet recommendations since the beginning of the summer and since then my energy has been great and I've lost about 20 lbs.

You'll enjoy the book. Everything you need is in there. I'm finding it to be very enlightening.

Phil Gomez from Moon Township, PA says:
I'm only 200 pages into it, I will say, though, that it is a fascinating read. Anyone who's interested in the subject will find it hard to put down. And, I am learning some things I've never heard before.

I am enjoying it very much. Just last night I read the story about how he inadvertently ended up glueing a horse's mouth shut -- I thought it was hilarious (you'll just have to read it). Even though those little stories aren't essential to the material, they do make for an interesting read.

Richard Triggs from Queensland, Australia says:
I have finished your book, and found it an excellent read. It has really helped me to clarify some questions I had regarding my diet, and for that I am thankful.

Tony Arcuri from Broad Channel, NY says:
Ultimate Diet Secrets arrived on Tuesday morning 10/1 by UPS. The packaging is fine and the book is great. Just finished the 4 "key chapters", now on to the whole book. I think I will be reading this one again and again. THANKS!

Tyler Hass from Oregon says:
Dr Ellis' book is about pretty much everything diet related. There is a lot of quackery going on in the popular press regarding diet and Ellis cuts right through it. He won't let you get away with not exercising, because that is ultimately the most important factor. He does endorse a high-fat diet, but even if you do not follow this suggestion, there is still other stuff in the book that makes it worth while. I'm almost halfway through the book now and I find it amazing because I wonder what there is left to cover, but I shall see.

There is a lot to learn from this book and I would recommend picking up a copy.

At 600 pages, the book is thick but reads quickly, and at $60, it is expensive but worth the price. It's pretty much the best there is right now. I enjoyed the biographical sections of the book. It's good to know that Greg has a passion for what he does and that he has experimented on himself, in addition to studying the topic academically. As for the content of this book, the real reason you should buy this book, it totally delivers. Everything is explained logically and to the point of leaving you with no questions. This book is written in a very practical way, giving you everything you need to know to optimize your diet and get predictable results. This book is not entirely about low-carb eating, although that is what it recommends. First and foremost, this book is about the calorie and it's prime role in bodyweight determination. Unlike a lot of diet authors, he doesn't rely upon diet alone. He stresses that exercise is even more critical than diet. This book leaves one with no excuse to be overweight. He discards the notion of metabolic defects and slow metabolisms and backs it up with research. He then presents a plan that is 100% failure proof. This probably will not be comfortable for a lot of people. However, for anyone serious about weight control, this is THE book to own. I think you will find this book to be very worthwhile and probably the last diet book you will ever need.

Ricky Bauer from Cherry Hill, NJ says:
Clearly, Ultimate Diet Secrets is hands down the best book ever written on the subject of diet and nutrition. Not a 'diet' book per se, rather, it speaks in easy to read language that deals with how the body controls its weight and how it responds to attempts to manipulate its weight. No other book dares to provide the research that Dr. Ellis has provided. Why? They don't have the research! They pick apart a few things and run with it. UDS is not to be confused with the Atkins Diet, as that diet contains so many flaws and fallacies. UDS is not a diet, it is a nutrition book that thoroughly explains the whys and wherefores of how our body reacts to foods. Before UDS, I blindly followed The Zone, as well as the high-carb, low-fat diets of the 1980s. Since following UDS, I have increased my energy output, and have not realized the sluggishness often experienced after a meal. I've been following UDS and low-carb eating for 6 months now. I've noticed a reduction in body fat and have not experienced any of the "side effects" that many claim occur when lowering carbs. Many heated arguments occur over religion, politics, and dieting. Now there is an answer that cannot be refuted. With UDS all the answers are there. No more confusion. Those who claim to know really don't know, but anyone who follows what is written in UDS will know more than their so-called expert friends. The best $60 I've spent in some time. Well worth it."

Rob Kahmer from Mesa, AZ says:
In regards to Ultimate Diet Secrets, it's a great book, and thanks. The thing I like best about UDS is that it cuts through all the b*lls***t floating around out there about diets. You really pull no punches in your analysis and discussion. Look forward to reading more of your work in the future.

Mike Yelich from Lancaster, NY says:
Across the board (of "diet" books) yours is unquestionably the most fact filled, truth telling, simple, yet elegant book. As you may know from my previous contact with you, I've read a lot of the other stuff out there in the main stream and have tried almost everything to lose and/or control my body fat level. You and I have been on a similar journey regarding weight control (I've done the crazy vegetarian and other useless diets), but you took it to the nth degree; I truly admire your dedication and determination in pursuing the truth in this confusing arena. Your book is breaking the information down to the essential fundamentals and backing them with science and it is the bottom line in weight loss and weight control. No other books need to be read or written on this subject.

I enjoyed the personal stories because they connected me to the person (you) who wrote the book, why you wrote it and how it all came to be. You hammered home the fundamentals and made no apologies for drilling the readers with the facts. In other words, you stated and re-stated the basics several times throughout the book and used science and logic to make your points as well as stating clearly, "This is not easy." Also, I found nothing offensive or derogatory in your style or words; you got to the facts and showed where others are both right and wrong in their conclusions.

You also were very thorough in giving the readers the whole package. In ALL other books on the subject, there is always something (or many things) left out. For the first time ever, I don't have to re-read a book to have a clear understanding of what to do and how to do it. Your book leaves no one guessing.

I don't feel the need to pour superlatives all over you or your work because it will be very clear to people when they read the book that they are reading the truth; that's what counts the most. I have a feeling that this book will put you into the spotlight very soon and your experience, education and background will supply you with the tools to shine.

I'd like to add some comments about the actual experience of following your plan:

Without question I have retained more muscle following your low-carb plan than I have any other fat-loss plan. At age 41, I have leveled off at 205 on a 5'8" frame (started at about 225 when I began your plan in late May) with no love handles and the top two abs showing clearly. To obtain the same approximate body fat level prior to using your plan I would weigh about 195. I'm happy for now and know what I have to do if I want to bring the body fat down more.

My energy level is very stable; obviously with so few carbs I don't experience the swings in blood sugar. I used to have to eat at least every three hours before or I'd start to feel "shaky." Now I'm able to go without feeling hungry for much longer periods and I no longer get shaky (this was probably due to the fact that my active tissues were really not being fed). The protein and fat make the food I eat very satisfying even if it is not a lot. The other day I did my morning weight routine and rode my stationary bike. We had about four inches of snow (Buffalo, what can I say?). So after breakfast I decided to shovel rather than use my snow blower. I shoveled most of the driveway (with some help from my wife and six-year old son) and felt no ill effects from it. Last year that would have kicked my ass. When I was not using your plan I would try the same thing and be shaky, achy and need to hit the sack for a while. This year, my working muscles were fed and fueled and I came inside and cleaned the pantry to boot.

Like I mentioned, I've been at your low-carb plan for about six months now and feel I'm mostly fat adapted. I understand what is optimal but choose not to be perfect all the time. I like beer, pizza, Chinese food, chocolate, etc. and will indulge at times. I'm finding my digestive system now has a hard time processing carbohydrate-laden food. Discomfort, gas, and diarrhea are common companions when I have too much. Along with not tolerating these foods as well, I'm finding that I don't crave them as much either.

My wife has now started to cut back on carbs as well and is starting to see and feel the positive effects.

I want to personally thank you for all the work you've done. You've cut to the heart of the matter and clearly state what so very much needs to be stated on nutrition and health. You have done this work to achieve your goals and to understand all the facts in this arena, but your personal drive and work will benefit so many people. It may take some time, but the word will get out and people will listen.

Steven Elbogen says:
Having followed your work for many years, it is wonderful to see you put it all together in such an in-depth piece of work. And 'in-depth' it is. I don't believe I've ever seen a more complete analysis of the many weight management systems out there, as well as a more complete solution. Giving people the 'power of information' is paramount for success. But credible information is the key. And this you have surely provided, with REAL DATA!

Although I was already sub-consciously, and lazily avoiding carbohydrate in my diet, your information has put it in the forefront, and made it very easy to comply. I think this is very important, because as people's conscious effort is simplified, their success will be amplified. Understanding why was the crucial, and missing, aspect. Well done.

As I have been on the expenditure (fitness) side of the business for a couple of dozen years, I have readily avoided jumping into the diet fray with my customers. However, you have eased the process for me, I just recommend to them the 'Encyclopedia of Weight Management'... your book. This is truly what you have created, for the first time in history. No one has ever participated in every type of program out there and documented the results so thoroughly, from a science based perspective. I particularly enjoyed how you weave in and out of your life, so it reads more like a biographical story than just another boring 'diet book'. This I believe will engage millions of readers more readily.

So, get out there and 'put it to the numbers'...(credit card numbers) and sell a few million of 'em.

Wishing you the best of success in healing this fat nation!

Jeff Beck from Philadelphia, PA says:
I've had the great pleasure of working with Greg Ellis helping him build this web site, and I can't stress enough what an education it's been for me. I haven't even had time to finish the books yet, but from reading (and re-reading) every word on this site plus emails and conversations with Greg, I have come to regard him as my ultimate guru of nutrition and fitness.

I was eager to take on this project for a number of reasons. For one, I have been faithfully using both Greg's Vitamin & Antioxidant Formula and his Chelated Minerals for a couple of years now. While his focus on this web site is of course his fabulous new books, Greg has also created a wide range of incredibly high-quality nutritional and health-oriented products. I used to go to a personal trainer twice weekly, who had been using his Vitamin and Minerals products for a while, and he kept pushing me and pushing me to try them, and for a long time I resisted -- they're not cheap. Finally I gave in, and after a few weeks I realized I could never be without these two products again. $60 a month seemed like a lot at first, but when I weigh the cost against the way I feel using these products, I realize there are many other things I'd rather do without if necessary than go without these products. I have severe allergies and a dry skin condition, both of which almost entirely disappeared within a few weeks of starting these products -- and both conditions come back in force whenever I stop taking them for a few weeks. I rarely get sick now, and when I do I get over it much more quickly than anyone around me. If you have any doubt about the validity or benefits of nutritional supplements, or if you currently take something cheap like a one-a-day or a Centrum, please order Greg's new Vitamin and Mineral Hoax book.

Another reason I was eager to work on this site is that I have been an avid fitness enthusiast for most of my life, starting way back when I was 14 or 15 and got really sick of being the scrawniest, weakest, shortest kid in school, and I started reading everything I could find about muscle-building. I even ordered that old home muscle building plan that they used to advertise in Boy's Life, the one with the cartoon of the big muscular bully kicking sand in the skinny guy's face on the beach, and the skinny guy gets mad and buys this program and gets all ripped and buff and goes back to the beach and beats the crap out of the big bully. Well, I never got big and buff and I never beat up a bully, but I did put on a couple pounds of much-needed muscle and got "the bug" for working out. I even used the very same spring-type exercise devices that Greg started with! Through the years I've read Men's Fitness and other magazines religiously and tried countless programs, none of which ever helped me get above about 128 pounds (at 5'6") or develop visible abs. Imagine not having visible abs at 128 pounds!

About three years ago I started working out twice a week with a personal trainer who put all his clients on the SuperSlow® program. It helped to some degree, and I did get myself in some kind of shape (VERY gradually over the three years), but never got bigger, and never got those elusive abs. The trainer himself began to realize after a few years of the program that it was just not effective, and it was painful to boot. He no longer uses it in his own workouts.

So, at about the same time my trainer began confiding in me his own doubts about the SuperSlow program (we're good friends), Greg offered me the chance to work on his site, and I recognized that this was a chance to learn and try something new. Little did I realize even then that Greg was going to change my life and blow away everything I ever thought I knew about fitness, nutrition, and exercise!

Greg put together a workout program for me based on the information in his Spectrum Training System book. I joined a local gym where I have now been working out on Greg's program three times a week for about two months now, and I can honestly say I have made FAR more progress in these two months than I made in three years of SuperSlow! My shirts are fitting tighter, and my friends and family have all been making comments about how much bigger my arms and chest are getting. I do sound for bands on weekends and my boss has even noticed I no longer have trouble helping him lift the 130 pound speaker cabinets up onto the bass bins!

Aside from the workout program, I also started following Greg's nutritional advice, at first with great reluctance, but now I'm very enthusiastic about it. After years of reading "expert advice," I really had "low-fat" firmly hammered into my brain, and it took a lot to bring me around. But the fact is, you can not read Greg's book and still have ANY doubts that he is the true authority on the subject. He's just too thorough, too well-researched, too experienced! He has volumes of facts in his head (and now in his books) that I've just never encountered before, and he goes to such great lengths to prove his points, to back up every single one of his concepts with mountains of research, from every point of view -- physiological, biological, real-world experimentation and research -- well, if you can't see that Greg Ellis has the answers after reading his books, then I'm sorry but you're doomed to be fat and flabby the rest of your life -- and that's your choice.

I've talked about Greg and his concepts to friends and family and sometimes get a positive reaction (usually from people in good shape), but it always leaves me speechless when someone who's 50 or 100 pounds overweight looks me in the eye and says "High fat diet?? No way. He's a quack, and you're going to get heart disease and die." And I look at their huge rolls of flab, and I look down at the cover of Ultimate Diet Secrets with Greg looking all muscular and buff, and I just sigh and walk away.

And how do I feel eating this ridiculous fat-laden diet? Incredible! I used to eat moderate carbs, not really low but not very high either, and I tried sticking with low-fat foods, and I never had any concept of the Energy Balance Equation -- calories in vs. calories out. My weight stayed around 135 for quite a while, about 12% body fat. Not bad, but no sexy abs either. I always tended to feel "snacky" even after eating a meal, which confused me until Greg pointed out that you can starve while stuffing yourself if you eat a lot of carbs and not enough fat or protein! Now, I will admit I don't count my calories daily, but I did for a couple weeks and got myself on a routine that provides me with slightly more calories than I need each day, as I'm trying to gain muscle without gaining additional fat. I'm making sure to get enough protein, I'm eating very low carbs, and now in between meals I have ENERGY and don't have that constant snacky feeling! I don't crave carbs anymore and can even pass up a sexy cream donut. :) I still don't have those abs yet, but I'm not worried; Greg told me it would take time. I haven't put on any fat, and I've gained a few pounds of muscle, just as Greg said I would. And I have confidence that in six months to a year, I'm going to have those damn abs I've been chasing for so long.

Oh -- and if you join a gym and the 22-year-old "expert trainers" there tell you Greg's workout program is backwards, IGNORE THEM. Just tell them thanks but I got it covered. Greg knows a LOT more than they ever will.

Thanks Greg. You rock.
